Songa Genetic Centre of Excellence

ESIA for the Development of Songa Genetic Centre of Excellence under the Rwanda Dairy Development Project – Phase II (RDDP-2), financed by the Government of Rwanda and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Situated on a 393-hectare site in Kinazi Sector, Huye District the Songa Genetic Centre of Excellence is a flagship national investment in livestock genetics, research, and dairy innovation. It aims to strengthen Rwanda’s breeding capacity, enhance productivity, and promote climate-smart agricultural practices.
The Station operates under the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB). It serves as one of Rwanda’s leading hubs for livestock research, artificial insemination, and genetic improvement, supporting both national breeding programs and farmer-level capacity development.
Ujiji Irrigation Scheme

The Ujiji Rice Production and Marketing Club, a cooperative of 568 smallholder farmers, with funding support from the Agricultural Commercialisation Project (AGCOM) intends to convert 200.3 hectares of land from rainfed to irrigated agriculture using a solar-powered system.
AGCOM’s Dwambazi and Mwenilondo Irrigation Scheme-World Bank

The Dwambazi Irrigation Scheme is part of the Malawi Food Systems Resilience Programme (MFSRP), a World Bank-funded initiative aimed at increasing agricultural productivity and food security. The project focuses on upgrading irrigation systems to enhance resilience against climate change and improve farmers’ livelihoods.
