Songa Genetic Centre of Excellence

ESIA for the Development of Songa Genetic Centre of Excellence under the Rwanda Dairy Development Project โ Phase II (RDDP-2), financed by the Government of Rwanda and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Situated on a 393-hectare site in Kinazi Sector, Huye District the Songa Genetic Centre of Excellence is a flagship national investment in livestock genetics, research, and dairy innovation. It aims to strengthen Rwandaโs breeding capacity, enhance productivity, and promote climate-smart agricultural practices.
The Station operates under the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB). It serves as one of Rwandaโs leading hubs for livestock research, artificial insemination, and genetic improvement, supporting both national breeding programs and farmer-level capacity development.
